7-Up Junior Golf Tour features 220 players in 18 N.Ky. events

The 7-Up Junior Golf Tour for boys and girls ages 18 and under begins today at Ryland Lakes Golf Club.

Tournament director Daryl Landrum said 220 players have signed up for the tour consisting of 18 events including the Tour Championship.

In addition, the Tri-State Invitational will be held at Perry Park on July 18-20 and is open to youngsters from Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Age divisions are boys 11-and- under (who play nine holes in each event), 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18. There is also a girls' division.

''The girls will compete in one division, ages 12-18,'' said Landrum.

''There are still openings for girls, who will play from the front tees. There are also a few openings for the 11-and- under boys division.''

Eligible golfers must live in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Mason, Owen, Pendleton or Trimble counties.
