Post staff report
Rob Clarke shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final round of the
Northern Kentucky Mid-Amateur on Sunday to pull off a
come-from-behind victory in the 36-hole event at Pendleton Country
Club.
Clarke finished with a 142 total. Mike Ward was runner-up with a
145.
It was the second major victory of the summer for Clarke, a
Triple Crown Country Club member. Last month, he won the Northern
Kentucky Men's Amateur championship.
Clarke entered the final round of the Mid-Amateur five strokes
behind Brian Begnoche, who shot a 69 on Saturday.
A rain storm stopped play for more than 30 minutes on Sunday, but
it didn't sidetrack Clarke's charge to the title in the annual
tournament for golfers age 25 and older.
Joe Roedig won the first handicap division with a 129. Robert J.
Davis won the second handicap division with a 128.
